Volunteers Help Fill Patrol Gap Left by Laid-off Police Officers

Taylor Cushomore, ICNOs Chairman of Safety and Security, was quoted in an article in the May 24, 2010 issue of The Desert Sun.  The article ran under the headline "Volunteers help fill patrol gap left by laid-off police officers."  Taylor is a member of Palm Springs Citizens on Patrol.  The group increases the safety of our neighborhood by patrolling it regularly, and reporting to the police or other appropriate city agencies suspicious activity or conditions.  Taylor says "We will not take the job of police officers during layoffs, (but) we will do our job more frequently."  Because of a reduction in police manpower due to recessionary cutbacks, Citizens on Patrol has increased its hours to include the noon to 6:00 pm period in addition to its main goal of patrolling between 6:00 pm and midnight, according to Taylor.
